PM David Cameron announced that Gross National Wellbeing would be officially measured, while President Sarkozy is doing something similar in France. “Prolonged exposure to stress is linked to ill health,” said Ben Willmott, a policy adviser at the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. European Commission figures for 2008-10 show that Britons work the longest hours in Europe, clocking up an average of 42 hours a week.
